UPNVJT Strengthens Academic Collaboration with PSU Thailand through Academic Mobility Program
What happened?
The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT) successfully conducted an Academic Mobility Program at the Faculty of Innovative Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Surat Thani Campus, Thailand.
The program was held on 11–12 November 2025, aiming to strengthen international collaboration in education, research, and academic development.
Who was involved?
The UPNVJT delegation consisted of:
Dr. Ir. Sri Wiyatiningsih, M.P. (Department of Plant Pest and Disease)
Fitri Wijayanti, S.P., M.P. (Department of Soil Science)
Ken Bening Jiwa Jeni (Master’s Student, Agrotechnology Program)
Maya Dwi S. (Undergraduate Student, Agrotechnology Program)
From PSU, the activities were welcomed and coordinated by the Faculty of Innovative Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, represented by Assoc. Prof. Pongsak Luadee (Dean) and Dr. Tule, along with PSU academic staff and researchers.
Where and When did it take place?
The program was held at the Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Surat Thani Campus, Thailand, from 11 to 12 November 2025.
Although conducted during the semester break, the visit was productive and resulted in several meaningful agreements and academic outcomes.
Why was the program conducted?
This activity was part of the Faculty of Agriculture’s continuous effort to implement internationalization and academic partnership.
The goals included:
Enhancing the academic experience of lecturers and students.
Developing joint research, publication, and book chapter writing.
Establishing student exchange and global class programs.
Strengthening institutional collaboration through academic seminars and formal cooperation agreements.
How was it carried out?
During the two-day program, the delegation engaged in a range of academic and collaborative activities:
Teaching sessions delivered by UPNVJT lecturers for PSU students in courses related to Plant Pest Management and Soil Health and Sustainable Agriculture.
Academic meetings discussing research collaborations and curriculum exchange.
Joint research planning focusing on mangrove ecosystems and sustainable tropical agriculture.
Agreement on joint publication and book chapter writing between postgraduate lecturers of both institutions.
Discussion on student exchange programs for undergraduate and master’s students from both universities.
Commitment to implement Global Class programs at both campuses.
Invitation for PSU lecturers, Dr. Tule and Assoc. Prof. Pongsak, to be speakers at ICAES 2026, as well as plans for UPNVJT lecturers to become guest speakers at PSU’s upcoming seminar.
What are the results and future plans?
This Academic Mobility Program produced several significant outcomes:
✅ Agreement on joint research collaboration focusing on mangrove and sustainable agriculture.
✅ Plan for joint publication and co-authored book chapter between PSU and UPNVJT postgraduate faculty.
✅ Establishment of student exchange programs between undergraduate and master’s students.
✅ Confirmation of PSU lecturers as keynote speakers for ICAES 2026, hosted by UPNVJT.
✅ Preparation for MoA signing to formalize academic partnership between the two faculties.
✅ Implementation of Global Class programs at both institutions.
This collaboration marks another milestone for the Faculty of Agriculture UPNVJT in expanding its international academic network and enhancing its global academic reputation 🌍.
